As a board-certified Cardiovascular Pathologist, Dr. Labarrere has significant experience with preclinical and scientific studies. He has over 30 years of experience in pathology and basic research and years of experience in the industry. Dr. Labarrere has a broad background in cardiovascular pathology and immunopathology, and with additional training and expertise in gastrointestinal pathology. the career has been mainly dedicated to understanding the role of inflammation, coagulation and cell activation in transplantation. The research career began in the CONICET in Argentina, the equivalent of the NIH in the US, after completing graduation in Buenos Aires medical school in 1976 and residency in pathology in 1980, when he came to the US in 1987. Dr. Labarrere had research funds through numerous grants from the AHA as a PI or Co-Investigator. He laid the groundwork for the proposed research by developing pioneering studies, published in prestigious journals for the detection of inflammation, coagulation and endothelial activation markers.
