Dr. Namani received all his degrees in Mechanical Engineering with a B.E. from Andhra University, India and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from University of Miami, Florida. He received post-doctoral training from the University of Minnesota Medical School and Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. He held academic appointments as an Associate Professor in India and Israel and instructed and mentored undergraduate and graduate students in engineering. Dr. Namani received many awards in his more than 15-year career of biomedical engineering research. He received the 2013 Richard Skalak Best Paper Award from the American Society of Mechanical Engineering. He was a recipient of the Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award and Outstanding Graduate Student Award from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at University of Miami. He published more than 25 refereed journal and conference papers. He gave many research presentations and organized scientific symposiums in India and USA. Dr. Namani has a research approach towards medicine that applies methods borrowed from traditional engineering disciplines. This approach was applied to various topics in medicine such as ischemic heart disease, atherosclerosis and stenosis, myocardial infarction, traumatic brain injury, osteoarthritis, rupture of fetal membranes.
