Dr. Henry Chen, Ph.D.

Dr. Chen received his Ph.D. (Biomedical Engineering) from Purdue University, M.S. (Biomedical Engineering) from University of Southern California, and B.S. (Mechanical Engineering) from Penn State University. He has also worked for about five years in industry as a mechanical engineer prior to obtaining his graduate degree. His efforts have been focused on the solid mechanics and fluid dynamics of cardiovascular devices (coronary stenting, aortic clamping, vascular valves and aortic dissection). He further investigated the relationship between biomechanics and vascular pathology such as stent re-stenosis and thrombosis. Dr. Chen is the 1st author of more than ten leading peer reviewed journal publications and two book chapters on the fluid-structure interactions of cardiovascular devices.
